Vinyl is making a comeback, and not just in the music industry. Leave a lasting impression on your guests with a Vinyl Turntable 24 or a Vinyl Turntable 48 bathroom sink. The 24 has a single sink, the 48 comes with two. Still, each of them adds the distinct imprint of retro glamour to your bathroom. Each case is made of engineered wood in which you will find the washbasin that looks just like a vinyl record. The faucet has the appearance of a stylus, and the knobs, of course, do not adjust the volume, but water temperature and pressure.Their design strikes a perfect balance between nostalgia and futuristic design, novelty and elegance, beauty and practicality. In any case, upon approaching it, you might want to try and play a hot 70s tune. You can â inside each of these “consoles” is a drawer that contains a Bluetooth speaker, located right behind the holes in the drawer. Each Vinyl Turntable sink comes with a mirror with LED lights that create the effect of a music equalizer. They also come with a towel rack on one side, a sturdy leather bag for any bathroom musician’s necessities on the other, and a tempered-glass shelf at the bottom, making sure that every inch of space is used wisely. The models come in with a single or a double sink, and you can choose between three-color variations: black & black, brown & red, and brown.Gianluca Paludi’s designs draw inspiration from his meticulous observations of light and perspective, along with his experimentation with different materials. He creates them in collaboration with Olympia Ceramica, a company situated in Italy, dedicated to creating the most elegant, luxurious designs. Their products are renowned for their functionality and high quality materials. As a rule, everything produced through their collaboration is a seamless blend of the modern and the classic, however, this design represents a bold and successful step further. How to incorporate Vinyl Turntable 24 or Vinyl Turntable 48 into your bathroomThese sinks are anything but ordinary, and since it is such a bold design, you may be wondering about how to incorporate one of them into your bathroom. Also, you need to decide which of these would be the better choice for you. Here is what you need to take into account. The first factor is the number of people who live in your house or frequent it. If you have a large family or often host parties, then consider Turntable 48. In the morning, when everyone is getting ready for work, a double sink might save time. The same goes for people putting on makeup together before a night out, and the list goes on. On the other hand, if you are a recluse and prefer solo projects, the 24 will be more than enough. The second factor is your bathroom’s spaciousness. If your bathroom is on the smaller side, it is safer to go with the 24, and in the opposite case, the 48 might be more suitable. This is not only a question of functionality, but also of balance. The sink should not block the bathroom, but the room should also not feel empty. Taking measurements before purchasing anything should go without saying. On top of that, this is where the question of harmony comes in. It is highly likely that, of all the things in your bathroom, your Vinyl Turntable will attract the most attention. Also, to get the most out of it, you need to make sure you have access to it from the sides as well, or at least the side where the leather pouch is. With that in mind, you should probably take care not to block it with walls, other appliances, or cabinets. Your bathroom will benefit from having it displayed in a somewhat independent position. After you have decided to go with either the 24 or the 48, think about the general style of your home and how the bathroom would fit in. Let’s say, for example, that the overall impression of your home is that it leans to the more modern or minimalistic side. Would you keep the style in the bathroom as well, or would you prefer to emphasize the style by creating contrast with a more striking design in one room (in this case, the bathroom)? On the other hand, if your style is more laidback or more lavish, think whether you need to tone it down in the bathroom. Then, if you consider getting a unique piece like Vinyl Turntable, consider the general impression. It would be best to design the rest of the room so as to create a little bit of tension, so that anyone entering the room does not notice the unique piece right away. This adds to the effect of the piece. You can achieve such tension by creating a distraction. When entering the room, follow your glance. If the unique piece you are getting is the first thing you look at, there is no tension. So prolong the journey of your glance. For example, if you are going for a chill, retro look, paint the walls in a vivid pattern or hang a picture or a poster somewhere near the piece. That way, the first thing that catches your eye is the decoration, and then comes the surprise of, in this case, the sink. Think of the sink as of a catchy chorus line, and of the wall pattern, picture, or even a strategically placed houseplant as the verse that builds anticipation. Think about rhythm, and if you have a lot of space to cover, experiment with repetition. Only, in this case, you follow your eye, and not your ear.sourceThankfully, the Vinyl Turntable sinks are designed to complement a rich variety of styles. If you are going for a minimalist look, or you want to keep your bathroom design as subtle as you can, you can do this by keeping color and light in check. For example, take the black turntable sink and fit it into a black and white bathroom, then avoid the danger of monotony with geometric patterns and posters. This is where the three-color variations come into play. The black and black combo is great for toned-down bathrooms that lean more to the modern side of style, while the brown and brown fits well into more retro bathrooms. The brown and red combo is the most eye-catching of all, and it can fit perfectly into a bathroom that has an urban, playful mood. Finally, let us not forget the mirror. More accurately, what is going to be in its reflection. For a full effect, it might be a good idea to think about the details to place on the opposite wall. Should you feel like you’re on stage or in a cozy room listening to a vintage record player? Pay attention to those details, as they will be duplicated in the mirror. That could be the finishing touch that helps determine the mood of the room. However confident you feel about your designing skills, you have plenty of room for experimentation with Vinyl Turntable sinks. Decide which one feels right for you, and incorporate a dash of inspiration into your morning routine.
Interior design inspired by music
You know how a lack of planning and coordination can ruin a show? This is the first thing you need to consider when designing your home, especially if you intend to play or practice there. Before you start doing anything, get a piece of paper or open a new document and start writing things down. Try to see what the improvements that you want to make are and prioritize. Have your neighbors been complaining about loud music? Do you need better recording space or more room to entertain your friends? You also need to think about having enough room to play, especially if you are not playing alone. Also, you might be getting a bit tired of the appearance of your home and feel like refreshing it.So, after you have checked your priorities and hopefully come out with a budget plan, you can begin. Most likely, you will be interested in taking care of the sound quality in your home, because, even if it is good, it can always use a bit of tweaking. Let’s start from there.SoundproofingSoundproofing your home or at least the room in which you will be playing can give you more freedom and peace of mind. There are several ways of achieving this and, of course, the final choice depends on how much time and money you can invest in such a gratifying project. You can always start small and improve on the design gradually as you move along.Insulating your doors and windowsWindows and doors are typically the weakest points of a room, so fixing them up should be your first step. There are numerous ways to do this, so we will just talk about the most common ones. The easiest soundproofing option is getting an acoustic threshold. This is a small investment, but it can make a huge difference when it comes to soundproofing your room. Unlike a standard threshold, it has a rubber seal running down the middle. It is also wider, making sure that the room is sealed tight when you close the door.So if you are not getting anything else, think about one of these, as they are relatively cheap, efficient, and easy to install. Just make sure to check how the door sits on them first before you nail the threshold in.Another option is an automatic door bottom, however, it is more expensive and more of a hassle to install. On the other hand, it might be more convenient and certainly more inconspicuous than an acoustic threshold. You can also consider using either felt or foam to soundproof your windows and doors. While both are great sound insulators, felt will only serve the purpose for a couple of years, while foam can last much longer, so it is often suggested that you use foam.Soundproofing your wallsDepending on how insulated your room needs to be, you can choose from a variety of special materials whose purpose is blocking sound from entering or leaving the room.If you don’t want to spend a lot of money on this, you can also start small by using sound deadening paints. They certainly do not have a strong enough effect for a rehearsal room, but they can be useful when it comes to blocking minor noises. If you are looking to set up a room for rehearsals, you have many options when it comes to sound barriers. You can cover the walls or other spaces with materials such as sound insulation foam, limp barrier mass, or damped drywall. Before purchasing or installing any of these large barriers, it is important to create a plan that will fit the individual room best, so research carefully. Good quality soundproofing can be costly, but it also makes a ton of difference.AcousticsIf you want to rehearse or record at home, you need to think about the acoustic properties of the room as well. While soundproofing prevents sound from leaving or entering the room, acoustics is all about the quality of the sound within the room.Depending on the room’s shape, size, contents, and the material it is made of, the acoustic properties will vary. You will need to first assess the quality of sound in a room, and then make any necessary changes. This is called acoustic treatment, and it refers to controlling sound reflections in a room. When the room is small and consists mostly of smooth and hard materials (so walls and ceilings are usually problematic), the treatment will usually involve sound absorption. Different materials absorb different frequencies, so it can be useful to try out how various combinations sound. Carpets and pillows can help with high to mid frequencies, but for really low frequencies, bass traps (which you can buy) are usually the only solution.
Orientation and organization
You already know that you need to pay attention to the amount of room you will have while playing. However, when designing your space, think about your preferred position as well. Think about the things that you might need if you spend a lot of time here, such as a comfortable chair, a mini fridge, or any surfaces on which to lay down your things.Check out the point in the room that, besides your instrument, occupies the most of your attention. Unless you play face to face with your band members, having a clear focal point in the room might help you imagine you were on stage. You will also inevitably need storage space. Even if you think the space you are redesigning has plenty of it, without careful organization, there is never going to be enough. So, assign an area for each part of the equipment before you even buy it. If you are in dire need of space and your instruments are in the way, attach them to the wall. If you do have room for it, store your instruments vertically in a closet specially designed or repurposed for this.Make sure to organize your cables as well, and get some Velcro ties to keep yourself free from tangled cables forever. And even though you think you know your equipment well, put some labels on it in case someone else has to pick it up for you. These changes might seem insignificant, but they can save your beautifully designed space from quickly turning into a cable-riddled jungle.
Atmosphere
In music and in design, harmony is the sense that all the components fit together. Therefore, if you are interested in a music-themed interior, it is important to keep in mind that all the elements reflect the same mood or aesthetic. That means that any piece of your design, be it a piece of furniture or an ornament, has to relate somehow to the others, through theme or atmosphere. For example, if you are inspired by a certain decade in music, pieces that represent a reference to a certain moment or a story make for an excellent icebreaker for any new guests. Also, whether we are talking about shapes, colors or materials, repeating them throughout your design is the way to achieve the effect of unity, so that every element of your design seems intended and thought out. So start thinking about what you want to achieve, and then, while going through different options, think about how much each of them might contribute to that final effect. Then we have balance and symmetry. And, when it comes to designing inspiring and reassuring spaces, symmetry and balance are crucial. Our brains have a tendency to look for patterns even where there are none. It is easier for our brains to process the distinct components that make out these patterns when they are set up in an orderly way. So, putting a chair on each side of a balcony table can help, and this is some of the reasoning behind large wall mirrors. Not only do they create an illusion of spaciousness, but they also add symmetry to the room. Try to follow these guidelines when designing each section of your space.Like with everything, moderation is key. Remember that you need to apply these principles to your whole house, and think of it as a good music album â make sure that it is dynamic and effective, but also pay attention to keeping the style unified and coherent. Not enough order and it becomes difficult to follow, too much repetition and your tune becomes boring. However, adding something exciting to your design is much easier and more entertaining than fighting chaos and this is where you can get really creative.
Add some flavor to it
Once you have a solid, harmonious foundation, you can start jazzing your house up a bit. Regardless of your budget, there is always a way to improve your living space with an eye-catching detail. This does not have to be expensive or particularly time-consuming. You can use the things you already have or that are easy to find at flea markets or garage sales. You can save up your money for a new instrument or a gadget, and let your imagination take care of this part.If you have broken instruments that you cannot part with, you know you can also give them another use. Upcycling them will also provide you with a good storytelling opportunity, especially if it is an instrument you used to play. Here are some things that you can do with them after they have served their original purpose.
Guitars
There are lots of new places you can find for your old guitar. One of the easiest DIY guitar projects is turning it into shelving. After you cut out the front part and insert the shelves, you can keep your guitar on the floor or attach it to the wall. If you position it correctly (think about symmetry), it can be a great place for your collection of photographs or souvenirs from concerts. If you have a balcony, you can also fashion a decorative birdhouse out of a guitar. Remove the strings. Then, either cut out a hole for the perch or glue it on. Another alternative is transforming your guitar into your new flowerpot. Also remove the strings, insert an aluminum or plastic pot and voilà !If you are not feeling too good about cutting your old guitar, you can turn it into an ornament, with just a bit of glue and some decorative rocks, buttons, or coins. Plan the mosaic ahead and try out the combinations a few times before reaching for the glue bottle.
Drums and drumsticks
Add a glass or a wooden tabletop and your old drum can make a great comeback as a coffee table. You can also cut it in half and attach it to a wall, getting yourself a cool bedside table. You can also think in terms of lightning, and turn that drum into a chandelier, or for an even more laidback look, you can use drumsticks for this. As with guitars, you can certainly make shelves out of cut out drums.
Brass instruments
Letâs assume that you also have brass instruments that you cannot use anymore, and you want to incorporate them into your design. There are various ways you can repurpose them as well! With some help from a professional, you can turn them into lamps, wall decorations, and even flowerpots.
Vinyls
You can also make a plethora of things out of your old, scratched records. Bake them in an oven at 225 degrees and then mold them however you like once they are melted and soft. You can make bowls, clocks, bookends, or even magazine racks from them. A coffee table made out of an old record will certainly not be left unnoticed. As has been mentioned, moderation is vital. Try to keep your design balanced and do not go over the top with DIY or any sort of decorative objects. At each stage of the project, make sure to check whether what you have in mind is practical, how it fits into the mood of the room. Also, pay attention to how any individual room affects the whole concept.Remember, planning is everything. Before you do anything permanent, try out various combinations and don’t be afraid to change your mind. Sometimes a design can look good in your head or on paper, but turn out to be impractical when applied in reality. You will probably go through several different phases before you get what you want, because the most important thing about design is how functional it is and how good you feel when you enter a room.
