The Best Chainsaw Reviews

#1.) Husqvarna Rancher Chainsaw

The Husqvarna 455 Rancher is a top seller online.

It comes with a powerful 2-cycle gas engine and is 20 inches long — furthest reaching chainsaw on my list.

Type: Gas Chainsaw

Blades: 3 sizes (16-20 inch)

Pricing: Expensive

For its size and power, the Husqvarna Rancher is extremely lightweight (only 10.2 pounds).

Very easy to start + designed to reduce vibrations. Good options for multi-hour use !

Buyers found the controls easy to use & includes Quick-Stop safety with TrioBrake near the handle (immediately stops when pulled)

Husqvarna Rancher is expensive, but with lots of positive reviews !

#2.) DeWalt Flexvolt Cordless Chainsaw

The DeWalt FlexVolt is medium priced chainsaw that is very lightweight.

Weight: 12.2 pounds

Reach: 16 inch chainsaw bar

Pricing: Affordable

It has a longer 16 inch reach which makes it a favorite for construction sites or large wooded areas.

DeWalt cordless chainsaw includes multiple safety features too.

chain stop-brake, kick-back protection + auto-oiling (for continuous lubrication)

FlexVolt uses a rechargeable battery that lasts 70 cuts per charge — not the longest battery, but should be enough for most yards.

Good brushless chainsaw for homeowners!

#3.) Greenworks PRO Cordless Chainsaw

The is Greenworks Cordless Chainsaw is a top seller this year.

It is super lightweight, weighing on 10.8 pounds and includes a 18 inch chainsaw bar. For those looking for a lightweight model, the Greenworks is the best chainsaw out there.

Weight: 10.8 pounds

Reach: 18 inch bar

Pricing: Medium

It is one of the lighter models included on my list — excellent for smaller trees or shrubbery!

Very easy to start, you can turn on with 1 button. It is also very quiet compared to others.

For safety, it is designed to reduce kickback and comes with rapid-charge battery.  Full charge lasts 150 cuts for normal size branches.

Buyers love its moderate price + performance.

#4.) Husqvarna 450 X-Torq Chainsaw

The Husqvarna 455 X-Torq chainsaw is expensive, but in my opinion the best chainsaw for homeowners.

It comes with 24 inch reach + gas powered engine.

Weight: 12.79 pounds

Reach: 24 inch bar

Pricing: Expensive

Despite a 3.62 horsepower motor, it is relatively lightweight and keeps emissions to a minimum (making it eco-friendly)

This model weighs 12.79 pounds, which puts it in the middle of my list.

Chainsaw also includes ergonomic handles to decrease vibration ~ and comes with chain-brake stop & choke/stop control (no engine flooding!).

Husqvarna Rancher is a newer model, but has lots of positive buyer reviews.

#5.) Remington Outlaw Chainsaw

The Remington Rebel one of the most popular chainsaws for homeowners.

Very easy to start, the Remington Outlaw is lightweight and offers low kickback.

Type: Gas Chainsaw

#6.) Milwaukee Electric Chainsaw Review

The Milwaukee 2727-21HD Electric Chainsaw is ideal for long-reach jobs.

It comes with a 16 inch blade which is enough to cut through most hardwoods or shrubbery.

Fairly lightweight at 21 pounds, it is designed to tackle larger trees ~ it comes with overload protection that protects against over-heating.

Very strong power, nearly 2X better than similar gas chainsaws.

Also easy to start + battery lasts 150 cuts per charge.

FYI: Milwaukee 2727-21HD is the most expensive model on my list.

#7.) VonHaus Cordless Chainsaw

The VonHaus Chainsaw is one of the newer chainsaws — it’s also one of the most affordable.

One of the notable differences is the 14 inch blade length.

VonHaus chainsaw is a compact model that is best for smaller jobs: bushes, small trees, pruning, etc.

Includes a kickback brake handle for safety.

You can easily change the tension for more efficient operation.

Downside is that the battery lasts 30-40 mins. But overall an affordable chainsaw for homeowners!

#8.) Worx Cordless Chainsaw Review

Only 6.91 lbs, the Worx Cordless model is the lightest chainsaw on my list.

Includes tool-free tension adjuster — ensures the chain won’t skip or create imbalance while rotating. Comes with rechargeable battery + includes an alert indicator (telling you when it is low)

For less vibration the Worx chainsaw is designed with ergonomic grips.

If you are looking for an above-average chainsaw for medium tasks, I suggest the Worx Cordless!

Affordable chainsaw for home use!

#9.) Black+Decker Cordless Chainsaw Review

The Black+Decker Cordless Chainsaw reaches 12 inches and weighs 10.4 pounds.

Durable enough to handle smaller trees and lightweight design helps eliminate user fatigue. One of the nice features is that you can adjust the chain tension ~ very easy to modify between cuts!

Buyer reviews say battery lasts 1-hour or 60 cuts.

Perfect for smaller tasks, but can be used for larger jobs (but less battery life). As one of the smaller model it fits well in a garage or outdoor storage shed.

A big selling point is the price ~ very affordable and strong enough for any homeowner job!

What size chainsaw blade do I need?

Having the right size chainsaw bar is critical when choosing an electric chainsaw.

The general rule is that a chainsaw blade should be 2″ longer than the size of the wood you are cutting.

If you choose a smaller blade you can still get the job done but it will effect its long-term durability – Small blade chainsaws are usually lighter weight which is why they are preferred by homeowners.

Most electric chainsaws are equipped with blade sizes between 14 and 20.

Also, the large chainsaw blades have more kickback.

For homeowners I recommend a chainsaw and blade that is between 12 and 16 inches. They are still lightweight for most people and kickback effect is relatively low.

Trimming and pruning can be accomplished with a 12-inch electric chainsaw.

For firewood cutting I suggest a large, heavy duty electric chainsaw with 16-22 inch blade.

For normal branches, the 12 to 16 inch blade should do the trick!
